2019 GIRLS WORLD CUP

WHY WORLD CUP?

  • The best pre-season game prep in the state of Maine!
  • A combination of live games and wall ball academy ensures lots of touches and improved stickwork over the course of the program….just in time for the season!

Program Notes:

  • Middle school & high school games start on different dates. 
  • No discounts for missed Sundays or cancellations due to weather.
  • Maineiax reserves the right to adjust this program. 
  • US Lacrosse membership is required (at additional cost) for all players for insurance and liability purposes, no exceptions.

HIGH SCHOOL WORLD CUP

9th – 12th Grades, $175
February 10  – March 24 
Sundays (12:30-4:05 pm)  or Thursdays (8-9pm) – Teams will only have 1-2 games on Thursdays with no Sunday game those weeks
7 weeks (1 bye week for each team) / 6 games total / weekly Wall Ball Academy on Sundays
@ the Maine Athletic Complex (the MAC) 

Our most popular program of the year and the perfect pre-season warm-up! 7 weeks of league play designed to get you ready for the season! High school teams will play full field indoors at the MAC with game times rotating on Sundays with 1 small sided game on Thursday. Each team has one bye week with no game. This live play experience will ensure each player gets lots of reps while enhancing game awareness & speed and improving stick skills & lacrosse IQ. 

Players may request to be on a roster with a friend(s) and each player will be assigned to one country team to play on for the duration of the program. 
Rosters will be capped at a certain number to maximize reps for each player. Teams with more than 18 will be split into 2 teams with possible free agents. 

Scores will be recorded and playoffs will be held on the last Sunday to determine winners! 1st and 2nd place teams will be named with the winner being awarded the World Cup Trophy AND a 
Spirit Award will be given to the team who exemplifies the most team spirit over the 7 weeks! Players must wear a reversible pinnie (available at registration) OR teams may decide on same color tee-shirts to wear. 

Program Details:

  • Each team plays 6 total games and has 1 bye week with no game
  • Teams rotate time slots each week based on goalie needs. Teams will play 1-2 Thursday night games and remaining on Sunday. 
  • Sundays include a 45 minute live full field game each week + 20 min Wall Ball Academy each week  
  • Thursdays include 10 min warmup/drills and 50 minute small sided game for lots of touches and for players to enhance their speed training & stamina
  • Games are running time, no halftime
  • There is limited individual coaching during this program with the focus being more on team concepts. For more individual coaching, please see our Tuesday night programs. 
  • Please be warmed up and ready to play at the start of your time slot!

This live play experience will ensure each player gets lots of reps while enhancing game awareness & speed and improving stick skills & lacrosse IQ.

Players may request to be on a roster with a friend(s) and each player will be assigned to one country team to play on for the duration of the program. Rosters will be capped at a certain number to

  • 20 min Wall Ball Academy each week (12:50-1:10 pm), work on stickwork skills and new stick routines
  • Each team plays every week with NO bye week (new!)
  • There is limited individual coaching during this program with the focus being more on team concepts. For more individual coaching, please see our Tuesday night programs. 
  • All games will be played at the MAC each week 
  • Please be warmed up and ready to play at the start of your time slot!

PROGRAM NOTES

  • No on-field warm-up, players should arrive 20 min early to stretch/pass on side of field. Please find teammates to stretch and pass when you arrive. You should be ready to play game at the start of your time slot!
  • All games will be running time, no halftime.
  • Our coaches will be in charge of 3-4 minute sub rotations for all teams; we strive for even playing time for all players.
  • In addition to the World Cup trophy, we will award the team with most TEAM SPIRIT at the end of the program. Teams should discuss what colors to wear each week after week 1.
  • All players should wear a reversible pinnie (if you ordered a Maineiax pinnie, please bring your own if you have one in case we run out before new shipment arrives) OR a team color tee shirt. 
  • No jewelry should be worn during games
  • Players cannot play without a mouth guard and goggles.
